ExtraScripts
ExtraScripts takes the System Manipulation commands from Quicksliver, and replicates them for use by Spotlight, allowing you to restart, sleep, shut down, empty recycle bin, and more… all from simple keyboard commands.
Download ExtraScripts
Simply invoke Spotlight and type:
- Sleep - Send your mac to sleep
- Restart - Restart your mac
- Empty - Empty the trash
- Toggle - Toggle the audio output from main speakers to headphones
- Kill - End a process, (will provide a list to choose from)
- Eject - Eject a CD or DVD
- Logout - Logout current user
- Secure - Secure empty trash
Note:
The ‘Toggle Audio’ and ‘Force Empty Trash’ commands require you to have set access for assistive devices. This is found under the “Universal Access” section of System Preferences. Just tick the box next to “Enable access for assistive devices” and you are good to go.
10.6 Update
The scripts have been updated to 64-bit which work under Snow Leopard. So in theory they are faster, but more importantly you can run the applications without having to run Rosetta as well.
